  Tsunami Satellite Data Catalog

The TSDC online data sharing platform supports information exchange for Tsunami related rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts. It is intended as a platform to provide easy access to most of the available satellite remote sensing data for the affected region. Much of the initial data currently available on this site has been provided by NASA, USGS, and individual commercial vendors in response to the Tsunami disaster. The CGIAR-CSI has developed this site as part of it Tsunami Data Sharing Platform. This site is provided by the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Many thanks to CGNET in Palo Alto for donating the server, the bandwidth, and hosting this site; and to the CGIAR ICT-KM Program, IWMI, and the International Plant Genetic Resources Institute (IPGRI) for providing funding and support.

Users of this site must register online, and will be granted permission for accessing online data, dependent on their affiliation. Full access is granted for CGIAR Center staff, UN agencies, govt. ministries, national or local agencies in affected countries, and NGOs working in the area on relief efforts (i.e. CGIAR Center staff). Access to proprietary imagery is restricted for individuals and the general public, in accordance with the permissions granted for disseminating datasets. In particular, this applies to the the Ikonos and Quickbird high resolution imagery. We want to acknowledge all data providers particularly thank the the disaster response unit at NASA, SAIC (Dr. Brenda K. Jones, Disaster Response Coordinator) and USGS EROS (Dr. James Verdin, Head of the International Program). Many people have contributed to this effort and we thank them all for their support and efforts. Many thanks to Dr. Prasad Thenkabail, the IWMI Remote Sensing/GIS Unit, and the CGIAR-CSI team for an intense data processing and cataloging effort.

The Tsunami Satellite Data Catalog is a collaboration of the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) and the Consortium for Spatial Information (CGIAR-CSI).
